The employees were terminated when they refused to sign new contracts with more extensive non-compete clauses than were contained in their original employment agreements. The employer terminated the employees while their prior employment agreements were in effect. The court modified the judgment of the trial court to add interest computed from the date of the breach to the amount of basic damages and affirmed the judgment as modified. The court held as follows: 1) the employees were not barred from recovering for the breach by reason of their violation of the covenants not to compete; 2) there was no need for a finding of "bad faith" because the discharges prior to the anniversary dates of their employment contracts constituted breaches of those contracts; 3) the wrongful discharges of the employees constituted breaches of the employment agreements so material as to discharge the employees from any further obligations under the contracts and to allow them to recover contract damages .
